The worry has ceased,

My mind is at ease,

I can finally shift my focus to Thee.

Eternal Flame

If the sparkle in your eyes could only reflect,

two souls aligned made to intersect.

It would reveal a portion of God's perfect plan,

to watch from a distance as you take her hand.

Tears if joy, and songs of life,

orchestrate your harmony as husband and wife.

Bless this brand new chapter, where two stories meet,

As your hearts combine to one single beat.

I wrote this poem when I lost my Grandmother at a very tender age. I never did come up with a title so, suggestions are always welcome:

As we gaze at the stars and the sun shining bright,
We all know you will be with us by day and by night.

How we hoped and prayed that you'd still be here,
You've showed us the way, and that death's not to fear.

Though you are in heaven with God and all happiness,
We will still miss you and your touching friendliness.

So now, down the road when it's our time too,
Our eyes will be open and looking for you.

Until then, we will try to get by,
Just smile. Be happy, but its OK to cry.

      Cognitive Hope

"Does the room seem awful quiet?" I can't hear a sound,
but the racing of my heart pound after pound

So, now I ask the question "could this be right?
Will it go away? Or, does it threaten my life?"

As my mind begins to race, I try to take breath,
"Will I be successful? Or am I close to death?"

Now my chest is getting tighter and I don't know what to do,
I have to find a way to somehow make it through!

When you can recite the thoughts of my last phrase,
I promise, very soon, you will see better days.

Ones where you can recall these questions and say,
How did I talk myself into ever feeling that way.
